While it has previously appeared on VR headsets in a more unofficial format, this latest version of Doom 3 VR has backing from id Software and Bethesda.
If you're excited to get your hands on this VR port, here's everything you need to get playing and slaying.
Is Doom 3 VR on PSVR?
Doom 3 VR is a PSVR-exclusive, meaning it is currently only available on Sony's virtual reality headset for £15.99/$19.99.
While you can use the DualShock controller to play Doom 3 VR, the PSVR's Aim Controller appears to be the best controller choice for this experience.
Given PSVR 2 is expected to launch in 2022, it may be likely that the upgraded headset also supports Doom 3 VR.
Is Doom 3 VR on Oculus Quest 2 or Oculus Rift?
Unfortunately, the official version of Doom 3 VR is not available on the Oculus Quest 2 or any Oculus headsets at release. This is especially frustrating for Oculus owners given that when the Rift was first launched on Kickstarter in 2012, it promised to bundle Doom 3 BFG with the headset.
We're unsure whether it will ever make its way onto the platform, although we'd recommend not getting your hopes up after Bethesda and Facebook clashed over the Oculus in 2018.
However, this doesn't mean Oculus Quest owners will have to go about their lives without any Doom in VR. The Doom3Quest mod can be downloaded from SideQuest, but will also require players to own Doom 3 on Steam (Note: Players must own this DOOM 3 version and not Doom 3 BFG).
The Doom3Quest mod may even prove to be more valuable than the official version in the future, with Team Beef (the developers of the mod) having said responded to questions about multiplayer, stating "there is a possibility this may come later."
Is Doom 3 VR on Valve Index?
Doom 3 VR's official version is unavailable for PC VR devices, as it is a PSVR-exclusive title.
However, much like the Oculus Quest's Doom3Quest mod, modders have built a similar version of Doom 3 running in VR for PC owners to use.
