If you're looking at the Genshin Impact internet requirements to see whether you can play MiHoYo's epic adventure offline, we've got you covered.
As a live-service game, Genshin Impact tends to be played online, as is becoming more and more common in gaming.
There are plenty of reasons you might want to play offline. Whether it's being sick of the Genshin Impact lag, or the Genshin Impact servers are down, let's take a look at if your internet-free Genshin dream can be a reality.
Does Genshin Impact Need Internet, Or Can You Play It Offline?
Many people enjoy playing Genshin Impact solo, and therefore don't see the need for an internet connection.
However, these people may be sad to know that a Genshin Impact internet connection is required to play. There simply is no way to play Genshin Impact offline.
While this may be heartbreaking news for those with an unreliable internet connection, there are several reasons why MiHoYo might have taken this decision. Let's consider them.
Why Isn't There A Genshin Impact Offline Mode?
There are a few possible explanations as to why Genshin Impact needs an internet connection at all times. The first, and most obvious, is because so much of the game data is saved and stored on the Genshin Impact server, rather than on your device.
The always-online status of the game also allows for crossplay, live events, and dungeon resets, for example. In-game events that are happening live, need to be online. There's also the fact that Genshin Impact regularly provides new content (every few weeks) to lure players back into the world of Teyvat.
While it might be a nice idea in principle for a Genshin Impact offline mode, the reality is it is extremely unlikely. And with the incredible popularity of the game, MiHoYo doesn't have much incentive to change how it's doing things at the moment.
