How to fix PS4 Error Code NP-44125-6

There is very little information available about this error. As we mentioned above, Sony don't reference it in their support pages, leaving us to gather together what little we can find from elsewhere. There does appear to be one potential solution for us to look at.

Reports of this error suggest that it can be resolved if both players move the game from whatever external storage is being used, and install it instead on the internal storage of the PS4. This may require you to move some games around, or do some uninstalling to make room.

Other potential fixes that have been suggested are as follows:

One possible solution, especially if the game is already installed on the internal storage of your PS4, is to reboot in safe mode and rebuild the database. To try this:

  • Turn off your console by holding the power button for three seconds. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  • Once the console is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep — one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
  • Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
  • Once you are in Safe Mode, select Option 5 - Clear Cache and Rebuild Database
  • Select Rebuild Database

It may also, if all else fails, be worth uninstalling, and then reinstalling the game, to see whether this makes any difference.

This is an error that has been tough to pin down. But what what else do we know about it?

What is Error Code NP-44125-6?

Firstly, we know thats it's an error that arises when trying to play games with friends. It also generates a very strange error code:

The target game intent type is not allowed. Please make sure that you have placed the param.json properly and also make sure its content.

As error messages go, this one is particularly confusing. Param.json is linked to creating a parameter file. So it is likely that there is an issue with the way that file is being used. But it is difficult to pin down any further than this.

Ultimately, whatever the specific cause is, the solutions may help players to start playing online together. If nothing is helping, then it's definitely time to reach out to PlayStation Support for additional support.
