Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 3 is now in full swing, but the latest update comes with a particularly frustrating copying add-on error on PS4.

As the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone/Black Ops Cold War ecosystem grows even more complicated with the shift to Verdansk 1984, one of the key things Activision needs to get right is the ease of access.

Unfortunately, this has grown difficult for Warzone players on PlayStation.

Here’s everything you need to know about the copying add-on issue in Warzone, and how to fix it.

What is the Warzone copying add-on issue PS4/PS5?

The copying add-on issue occurs exclusively on PlayStation consoles. As Warzone is yet to receive a PS5 update, this PS4-era error also affects PS5 owners.

This error occurs when booting up Warzone/Modern Warfare. Every time you launch the game, it forces you into re-copying an add-on for the game. The size of this varies depending on the person, with complaints ranging from 11GB to 27GB needing to be copied.

While after it copies, players can play Warzone, this can be frustrating for those wanting to jump in straight away. Copying 11-27GB can take upwards of 30 minutes, and having to wait 30 minutes every time you want to play is enough to put you off Warzone altogether.

Here’s how you can fix it.

How to fix Warzone copying add-on issue PS4 and PS5

When we suffered from this issue, we found the solution courtesy of this Reddit post. Essentially, the add-ons in question that need to be copied are the Modern Warfare campaign packs.

To download these, wait for the add-on to copy (for the final time!) and then press R3 to bring up the various packs you can install. If you shift across to the Modern Warfare tab, you will see the campaign packs for Modern Warfare. You should install Campaign Pack 1 and Campaign Pack 2.

This is a temporary solution to the issue, as it doesn’t actually stop the copying add-on error, but instead only requires a 1MB file to be copied whenever you launch the game. This will only take a few seconds.

If this is too much for you, another fix is to delete the game, and only install Call of Duty: Warzone instead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

As this issue gains traction, hopefully Activision/PlayStation come up with a solution to resolve it, meaning we won’t have to use these workarounds just to jump into Verdansk/Rebirth Island.
