PS5 Warranty: Does The PS5 Come With Warranty, How Long is PS5 Warranty, And How To Claim Warranty for PlayStation 5
PS5 warranty. Definitely the most interesting thing you’ll see on the internet today.
While warranties may not sound the most exciting thing on the internet, understanding your rights when it comes to repairing your PS5 is pretty important. Let’s face it, they aren’t easy to get hold of, and they don’t come cheap. So the last thing you want to be faced with is a broken PlayStation 5, thinking you’re going to have to shell out to buy a new one. Especially if it turns out you may be covered by a PS5 warranty.
So without further ado, here is the lowdown on that all-important warranty info. We’ve got everything you need to know right here.
Does the PS5 come with a warranty?
The good news is that yes, the PS5 does come with a warranty. Warranty rules vary depending on what country you are in. We aren’t going to sit here and breakdown every warranty permutation around the world. Frankly we don’t have the linguistic skills, and Antiques Roadshow is about to start. But you can get all the information you need for your locality here.
It’s important to point out that a warranty doesn’t cover every type of breakage. It won’t for instance, cover things like accidental damage. It is designed to protect you against defective components or poor workmanship. This is very hard to prove if, say, beer has been spilled on it and fried the GPU (which we definitely haven’t done, by the way). In that type of situation, you’ll be hoping you have a half decent home insurance policy.

How long is the PS5 warranty?
In the UK, your PS5 warranty is 1 year from the date of the original purchase. As we alluded to above, the warranty will cover your console for faults caused by “defective materials or workmanship”. In other words, if a component fails because it was badly made, you’re covered.
The replacement console or component will be either new or refurbished, at Sony’s discretion. These parts will have an additional 3-month warranty, even if the original guarantee period expires before this timeframe. What they don’t guarantee, is your data, which will probably get wiped as soon as it reaches the repair centre.
