Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was a huge hit when it came out, winning the 2019 Game of the Year during the Game Awards. With the 2022 Game Awards on the horizon, rumours have been circulating about a possible Sekiro 2 announcement.
Fans have wanted a sequel to Sekiro ever since the first one came out. Despite FromSoftware using some Dark Souls elements, the game feels like a spiritual successor to the company’s older series, Tenchu. Considering how the first game never received any expansions, a sequel would be appreciated by everyone.
Are we really getting a Sekiro 2 announcement during the 2022 Game Awards? Will it be able to surpass its predecessor? Fans will have to wait and see if anything fruitful comes from these rumours.
Take this with a grain of salt, but a post on 4chan claims that there’s a chance Sekiro 2 is going to be announced during the 2022 Game Awards. Admittedly, reports from this website tend to go 50/50 but since major game announcements are made during this show, this seems like a small possibility.
On this fairly short post, it was claimed that the sequel would have a bigger open-world, though it won’t be Elden Ring levels. It was also claimed that this title will be hitting PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, which is expected.
Naturally, a lot of fans don’t believe that Sekiro 2 is going to happen, especially with reports that an Armored Core successor is coming. 4chan posts are always hit-and-miss when it comes to these announcements, so we’ll have to wait and see if a sequel to this game actually happens.
